Faux, Francis

Francis Faux (b.1982) is a British choral conductor and composer. He started his musical career at Westminster Cathedral Choir School during which time he sang on multiple Gramophone award-winning albums as a chorister, recorded with the King’s Consort and was selected to be one of two soloists to perform in a televised concert of Yehudi Menuhin’s 80th birthday celebration at the Royal Albert Hall.

His two choirs, Lucis and Noctis, have quickly established a reputation for choral excellence, both here in the UK and internationally. Highlights include a concert of music by Grammy award-winning composer, Christopher Tin, at the Cadogan Hall with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and a WW1 centenary concert accompanied by the Southern Sinfonia with guest speaker, Sir Terry Waite.

In 2022, he was commissioned to write a new work for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with children’s author, Jamila Gavin MBE. The song, called We are Every Child, has since been recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios and has been performed all around the world. He is currently working on a new setting of the carol There is No Rose for Prior Park School in Bath, England and a suite of clarinet pieces inspired by the Welsh Mabinogion for clarinettist Emma Davies, as well as a couple of short films and video game soundtracks. He is also an experienced piano teacher, repetiteur and Estill-trained vocal coach and a member of the examiner panel for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.
