Product additional information
Lovessa (’In the Hollow’) is a 7-minute work for SATB choir set to a text by Heta Kaisto and Krista Lehtonen. The work is inspired by the idea of villages drowned by artificial lakes created with dams. It follows a journey from among the suffocated trees in the sunken village up to a bird’s perspective and finally back to the ground, where the elements meet in the crossroads of human fates. The title of the work refers to the word lovi, an underwater otherworld or afterlife in the Finnish mythology that was thought to exist beyond a hole at the bottom of a lake.
