The piece was initiated in the spring of 2024 as a result of a university course, Text and Poetry Analysis Practicum, organized by the Sibelius Academy (Department of Composition and Music Theory) and the Theatre Academy (Writing Faculty). The course brought together composition and writing students to collaborate on creating a piece for the chamber choir EMO Ensemble, based in Espoo, Finland.
Ajasta ikuiseen was composed primarily between August and mid-September 2024, and it was created in collaboration with writer Anna Englund.
The piece is scored for a mixed choir, with a minimum ensemble size of 4 sopranos, 4 altos, 4 tenors, and 4 basses. A larger ensemble is recommended, as the score includes sections with divisions exceeding four parts.
