Hyökki, Matti

Matti Hyökki (b.1946) is a Finnish conductor and arranger.

Professor of choral conducting at the Sibelius Academy (1982–2014), Conductor of the YL Male Voice Choir (1980–2010), Chorus Master of the Savonlinna Opera Festival Choir (2008–2021), Artistic Director of the Laulu-Miehet Male Voice Choir (1998–)

Doctor of Music, Matti Hyökki has been a prominent figure in Finnish choral singing for a very long time. His artistic career, taking in more than 250 premieres and 60 releases, includes not only a number of award-winning discs of contemporary choral music but also the complete works for male choir by Finnish composers Jean Sibelius, Toivo Kuula, Leevi Madetoja, Selim Palmgren, Erkki Melartin, Eino Linnala, Erik Bergman and Einojuhani Rautavaara.
