Product additional information
Muistoja kesästä (”Memories of Summer”) is a three-movement a cappella choral work for three voices (SSA). The piece reflects on the feelings of summer slipping away and turning into autumn. All the three movements capture a slightly different memory or reflection.
I Pilvet (“Clouds”) describes the moment of clouds slowly drift away in the evening sky. This beautiful sight leads to the realization of summer’s end, and later into a deeper reflection on humanity’s inability to appreciate things in the present.
II Sumussa (“In the Mist”) depicts stillness from a nature description perspective. The focus is on still, unmoving water without a single wave in sight. Can there be too much tranquility? This is the question pondered in this movement.
III Tuuli (“Wind”) In this movement, we move from the darkness of autumn back to the lovely memories and dreams of summertime. How is it that the same wind that is so cold and piercing in the autumn can, in the summertime, be so gentle, whispering, and dreamy. This everchanging identity of wind is the main inspiration for this movement”
