Product additional information
The YL Male Voice Choir, led by Heikki Klemetti, premiered this song dedicated to it on April 30, 1901 in the ballroom of the University of Helsinki. The elegy, written for tenor soloist and male choir, is a love song based on Larin-Kyösti’s poem. The growing role of the choir’s number one tenors in the soloist melody increases the intensity of the song. At least the singer cannot be accused of hiding emotions. Addressing the subject is clear and commanding: “Take…, sit…, call…, give…, sing…, tune…”. The text has a strong guiding effect on interpretation.
Ylioppilaskunnan Laulajat ensiesitti sille omistetun laulun 30.4.1901 Heikki Klemetin johdolla Helsingin yliopiston juhlasalissa. Tenorisolistille ja mieskuorolle kirjoitettu elegia on rakkauslaulu Larin-Kyöstin runoon. Kuoron ykköstenorien kasvava osuus solististemman melodiassa lisää laulun intensiteettiä. Laulajaa ei voi ainakaan tunteiden piilottelusta moittia. Kohdetta puhutellaan selkeästi ja kehottavasti: ”Ota.., istu.., soita.., anna.., laula.., viritä…”. Tekstillä on vahva tulkintaa ohjaava vaikutus.
