The ten-stroke verse song was written in 1914. The lyrics of the song are from the Vagabond’s Fall, the last part of a four-part poem, Vagabond’s Songs written by Larin Kyösti in 1899. The wanderer prays night and day to bring peace to his soul. The birds of heaven do have their own instruments, while the wanderer, on the other hand, does not feel that he’s able to find the means of redeeming grace for himself.

Kymmentahtinen säkeistölaulu on kirjoitettu 1914. Laulun teksti on peräisin Larin Kyöstin 1899 kirjoittaman neliosaisen runon, Kulkurin lauluja viimeisestä osasta, Kulkurin lankeemus. Kulkija rukoilee öin ja päivin saadakseen sielullensa rauhan. Taivaan linnuillakin on soittimensa, mutta kulkija ei tunne löytävänsä välinettä armon lunastamiseksi itselleen.
