Motele was an eight-year old boy, imprisoned in Auschwitz during the Second World War. He wrote this text in Yiddish; it was translated into English by Marie Syrkin and appeared in her book, Blessed is the Match: The Story of Jewish Resistance. Like countless others, Motele did not survive the camp.
