Pohjola, Seppo

Seppo Pohjola (b. 1965) is a Finnish composer living in Espoo.

He studied with Paavo Heininen and Erkki Jokinen at the Sibelius Academy from 1990 to 1995, since when he has been a freelance composer. His coreworks include six symphonies, two violin concertos, two piano concertos, a cello concerto, nine string quartets, and six operas, one of them for children. Many of his works, such as symphonies 1 & 2 (Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra/Sakari Oramo) and string quartets 1-4 (Kamus Quartet) have been released on the Alba Records label. The quartets and the children ́s opera were both nominated for a Finnish Emma award.
