Jona Kümper (b. 1973) is a pianist and composer from Bochum, Germany.

He studied piano with Prof. Arnulf von Arnim, Prof. Gilead Mishory und Prof. Nina Tichman at Musikhochschule Dortmund and Musikhochschule Köln, where he obtained his concert exam in 2004. He was a scholarship holder of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (2021) and the Musikfonds (2021, 2022, 2023) and is a lecturer at TU Dortmund University.

As a composer Jona Kümper gained numerous national and international awards:

• 2008 Composition Prize of Neuss, Germany
• 2012 third prize at the International Composition Competition Sofia, Bulgaria
• 2014 third prize at the Carl-von-Ossietzky-Competition of Oldenburg University, Germany
• 2015 first prize at the Carl-von-Ossietzky-Competition of Oldenburg University, Germany
• 2015 two third prizes at the VocalEspoo International Choral Composition Competition, Finland
• 2017 second prize at the VocalEspoo International Choral Composition Competition, Finland
• 2019 “Square dance” was selected to be performed during the Basel Composition Competition, Switzerland
• 2020 third prize at the Harald Genzmer Competition “Spielmusik”, Munich, Germany
• 2020 third prize at the Tapiola Choir International Choral Composition Competition, Finland
• 2021 third prize at the Carl-von-Ossietzky-Competition of Oldenburg University
• 2023 finalist at the Prix Annelie de Man, Amsterdam, Netherlands
• 2024 first prize at the Tapiola Choir International Choral Composition Competition, Finland
