Katada, Yui

Yui Katada (b. 1985) is a Japanese composer and conductor.

Katada studied composition at Toho Gakuen College Music Department, Japan. She earned her master’s degree in choral conducting from Sibelius Academy, Finland. Her music focuses on “breaths,” which flows constantly between the body and surrounding space. She founded “Noema Noesis”, working as the artistic director and conductor. Since 2016, she is also the supervisor of “pneuma female Choir.”

So far, Katada has published “Shishi no Uta” from Kawai Publishing, and “Ave Maria”, “UPOPO” and “Hototogisu” from Sulasol. In 2020, she started researching choral teaching methods that enable a variety of expressions at the behavioral physiology laboratory. In 2022, “Effects of Warm-up Focused on the Mind-Body on Choral Performance” (Yui Katada, Naomi Yoshida, Ichiro Kita) was announced from Journal of Voice, an American medical journal.
