Rautavaara, Einojuhani

Einojuhani Rautavaara (9.10. 1928 Helsinki – 27.7. 2016 Helsinki) is internationally among the most significant Finnish composers. He wrote a great number of works spanning various styles of contemporary classical music.

In addition to the eight symphonies, nine operas, twelve concertos and numerous chamber and solo vocal works, Rautavaara composed almost a hundred choral works. About a third of them are for a male choir, with YL Male Voice Choir as its most important partner, premiering more than 20 of them.

YL is committed to publishing male choral repertoire by important and close composers, so that they would become known and performed around the world according to their value.
